I just want to draw character interaction forever, mostly the development of their relationship past the professional.
Nico’s had more experience with drinking, which is odd for their circumstances. Melanie has a few years on her, and drinking is a pretty big part of her culture. Her adult life has been spent almost entirely away from home (and avoiding the big social events where she would have learned her limits a long time ago). I suppose if anyone in her family were to remark on this she’d get competitive enough to lose herself.
I guess I like to panel out scenes where nothing much happens, I just run with it.————————
also, their initial meeting. Melanie’s accent isn’t especially thick in her regular speaking voice (she doesn’t use conjunctions, and enunciates perfectly), but when they met, Nico couldn’t understand a word. Hassled all day by academics, finally escapes to her dorm and then SUDDENLY, accosted by a huge, very excited foreigner. Nico probably just pointed to the bathroom and ran away.
Also, when writing out how she pronounces english words in her accent, I’m not referencing any particular real-world language. I have an idea what it sounds like but cannot offer a reference or example.
